Carnival Lofts Racing Pigeon Club 2019 Short distance races:
Good morning the final short distance race was flown last weekend from Bloemfontein, the pigeons were liberated at 08h45 with a light north westerly wind blowing. The temperatures were a bit higher than the first few weeks and when the pigeons arrived the temps was in the mid 20’s and we could see that the pigeons were struggling with the sudden temperature rise. I am sure that the heat will become a major factor later in the season as well! The winner from Bloemfontein race was Desert Queen Young Guns, a team entered by Bernard Davel. We have gotten used to Bernard flying very good races here at Carnival Lofts in the past especially when the race gets a bit tougher. Well done on the win Desert Queen! Bloemfontein was also the final race of the 2019 short distances; it was a very competitive series of races and the final winners of the short distance averages were only decided after the result was in!
The winner of the short distance single bird averages was long time customer Bela Vista Trust (John Gomes) he was lucky enough to have a pigeon in the first few every weekend, 2nd position on the single bird averages went to Buffalo Soldiers (Egbert O’Kelly) very well done Egbert! 3rd position on the single bird averages went to the new team here at Carnival Lofts of Cedric & Sheldon McDermott with partner Leon de Villiers called McDev! 4th a new team here again Daniel & Hendrik Moller from the Cape and in 5th another one of our regular customers Jannie & Tersia Engelbrecht! The top 10 on the single bird averages short distances were:
