Good day, race 3 of the 2019 CLRPC season was flown from Bloemfontein on Saturday 15 June 2019, for the last couple of years we have grown accustomed to a very hard race the first time the pigeons are on an organization truck and this was again the case this season!
It does seem that the pigeons are fine when liberated by themselves or with a small group of pigeons flying to the same direction as them but once they are liberated on a Saturday when the whole of Gauteng are at the same race point and the pigeons now need to think where they are actually going and not just follow the leaders then we seem to separate the good ones from the followers!
One loft racing is not as easy as it seems and yes sometimes we experience more losses than other seasons this being one of the seasons we seem to be losing more than our share of pigeons, some of the top fanciers who in general over the years have not lost many pigeons have had bigger losses than before. I have been thinking of pulling in the race team and let them rest for a week just to see if this will not help them for the rest of the season. This coming weekend they will be racing Dewetsdorp about 340km’s and I will keep a close eye on them and if needs be will adjust the program if I see that there are too many taking strain.
For the front runners or the pigeons clearly with super immunity however the program is definitely not too strenuous and they are performing well week in and week out. I ask myself the question are these not ultimately the family of pigeons we are all striving for and hoping to have in our stock lofts??
Back to the results of race 3 well done to Aces Racing Pigeons (Petrus Claassen) from the NOVP with his first win of the season here at CLRPC! He took a 4th position as well! In 2nd place another newcomer Stoyanovs Loft in 3rd position Jannie & Tersia Engelbrecht who also flew a 7th position, 5th place goes to Ronnie Huebsch well done to the top 5 placed lofts as well as the lofts in the top 30 for this weekend!
